Ms. Shehan assists clients with the settlement of estates and the administration of trusts, including estate planning, the execution of fiduciary responsibilities, and related tax issues. She serves as a private trustee or executor for personal clients, as a consultant for professional fiduciaries, and as an expert witness in fiduciary litigation.
Prior to joining Spencer Law Firm LLC, Ms. Shehan worked as a professional fiduciary in the corporate arena for over twenty five years. She is recognized in the Pennsylvania trust and estate community for her work as a vice president, senior trust officer, and manager of a regional bank's personal trust department. Her responsibilities included all aspects of trusts, estates, and guardianships. She has in-depth experience in managing large and complex fiduciary relationships.
Ms. Shehan has also served as the in-house fiduciary expert for corporate fiduciaries, providing guidance on challenging fiduciary relationships, appropriate resolution of conflicts with trust beneficiaries, document interpretation, and development of company policies and practices.
This corporate fiduciary experience enables her to provide practical guidance to both individual and corporate trustees, as well as to the clients and prospective clients of corporate fiduciaries in their dealings with their trust and investment officers.
Active in the community, Ms. Shehan served as a Director of the Pennsylvania Bankers' Association School of Trust and Investment Management and as a faculty member at the school on the topic of estate administration. She has also served on the planning committee for the annual Pennsylvania Banker's Association Wealth Management & Trust Conference. She served as a faculty member along with Ms. Spencer for a course of Developments in Fiduciary Litigation, presented on behalf of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute.
Ms. Shehan holds a J.D. from The Dickinson School of Law and a B.A. in History and Political Science from Monmouth College. She is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania and the U.S. District Court for the Third Circuit.
